Been 1 1/3 year since the last journal, I guess. That's several months.
I'm in Tokyo since 10 months, fancy that. It's a rad place.

Thanks for all the birthday greetings! I'm currently working on a new Touhou comic for Reitaisai 10, where I will participate.
I guess I should post some pages here too. Been too busy.

Free commision for people who can give me great advice and connections for getting into the cartoon and/ or gaming indusrty. I only draw single characters within my style of drawing and it takes me approximately 10 working days to do so. More details will be given out if we get in touch.

I have no connections and need no commissions, but thanks anyway.

Hey yo. Not much, I guess. Working on a comic, some illos, some BF4. Maybe I should update my journal, I'm not in Tokyo at all any more.

Well, it feels like you're working from your own notions of anatomy, you should use reference more until you master it. The pose itself isn't half bad, but the shapes are lacking.
I found a reference that is pretty close, although perhaps a bit skinnier than what you want. I'm thinking mostly of the shapes of the ribcage/stomach/hip bone and how they work together to shape the belly. Your(drawing's) breasts are also starting too high up, "collarbone breasts", a common mistake.

Next problem is the shading. There's clearly strong sunlight coming from behind, but her colors are rather dull. Again, see the reference photo. Your soft shading with subdued colors look like on a cloudy day, when there are no hard shadows and everything is softened out. With strong light, you get strong shadows and more saturated colors. The tentacles look good in that aspect, while her skin is too muddy. Overall, there's a discrepancy between the saturation and color levels of all different objects in the picture, which makes it look mismatched. The perspective of the ocean is off too, making it look inclined and short-ranged, like a backdrop.

You still have a lot of things to work out with the basics. I think you should take the time for some proper anatomy practice, bones, muscles, the full body - the works. And, I don't wish to be rude, but at least for the kourindou group's sake, I think it's a bit of a problem that you draw all of them as your girlfriend. Maybe it's just me, but I think they should stay as the characters they are. If it's good motivation for you though, it's fine. But keep working on proper bone structure, muscles and then how the skinned body look, and it will work wonders for sure.

I agree to my lighting and shading; I do gradients too religiously I admit. I tried to break away from it with this at least… And I admit to the slight anatomical problems, was first time doing a toned stomach here.

But I must question, how is it a factor in artistic merit if it's a painting of my friend? Seems arbitrary. Not all my paintings are of her, just the ones that are look best that I am capable of doing ATM

It's not a question of artistic merit, but of Touhou relevance. We often reject other crossovers as well. But as I said, if you like doing it and it's motivational, do go on.
